A Nation's Trust

In this dark room, I see your face
A haunting look in your disgrace.
Your shallow mask betrayed us all.
A nation's trust that led to war.
...and now we'll make the same mistakes.
Far flung blood, for home grown gain.
A nation's guilt not cleansed by lies.
Creeping apathy, our demise.

A Slide Into Depravity

Looking at the world through media lens,
distorted by the views that democracy defends.
"Who are you to question the freedom that they give,
when others died bravely for the world in which you live?"
Drifting in a sea of information we drown,
dragged down below by the critics who abound.
Segregated, isolated, cut off from the rest,
by a system that exposes every weakness - we resist.
Solipsistic minds withdraw reality at times,
as we fall upon the swords of a system we despise.
Taken by the words of a daughter of the church,
equality, humanity, she left us in the lurch.
There's freedom on the table, but to grasp it is a sin,
and rely on the strength that we've kept so long within.
There's beauty in humanity, it's buried deep below,
the cruelty and savagery of the modern world.

I am a piece of human misery.
I am. I need. I feed.
I hate, with blank antipathy.
I bleed you dry of empathy.
